Straighten a document photo to its exact size

Edges are detected, the camera angle is corrected and the size is set: ID card, passport page or A4. Your photo never leaves your device.

This tool runs in your browser. Your file is not uploaded to any server.

Photograph the ID, passport or page on a dark surface so the edges are easy to find. Photos stay on your device.

How to use it

  1. 1

    Snap or pick a photo

Photograph the card or page with your phone camera, or pick photos from your gallery or files. You can add several at once.

  2. 2

    Check the edges

The edges are detected automatically. If they're off, drag the four corners yourself; a magnifier helps you place each one, and corners snap to the nearest edge.

  3. 3

    Choose a size

Standard ID card size (85.6×54 mm), passport page, A4, A5 or Letter, or keep the detected proportions.

  4. 4

    Pick a look

Keep the original colors, or choose Clean document to whiten the background, black and white, grayscale, or a color boost for stamps.

  5. 5

    Save the result

Save as JPG, PNG or PDF. For an ID copy, choose Front and back on A4 to place both sides on one page at true size.

What you get

  • Automatic edges, precise manual control

The tool finds the outline of the card or page by itself. If it misses, drag the corners with a magnifier, and each corner snaps to the nearest edge. On a computer, nudge them with the arrow keys.

  • From a tilted photo to a flat document

The camera angle is corrected, so a slanted page becomes a straight rectangle, and the image is turned upright automatically.

  • Real-world size presets

ID-1 card size (85.6×54 mm), the size of Iraq's national ID card; passport page (125×88 mm); A4, A5 and Letter; or the detected proportions.

  • Both sides of an ID on one A4 page

Place the front and back of a card on a single A4 page at their true size, ready to print or upload as a PDF.

  • Document filters and batches

Choose original, clean document, black and white, grayscale or color boost, and straighten several photos in one session.

  • Photos stay on your device

Edge detection, straightening, cropping and saving all run in your browser. Photos of your ID or certificates are not uploaded to our servers.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from Scan to PDF?

Scan to PDF is for shooting several pages and collecting them in one PDF. Document scanner focuses on a single photo or card: it straightens it and crops it to an exact size, such as an ID card or passport page, and saves it as an image or PDF.

How do I print both sides of an ID card on one page?

Photograph the front, then the back, choose the ID card size and Front and back on A4, and save as PDF. When printing, choose Actual size rather than Fit to page, so the card comes out at its real size.

Is the photo of my ID uploaded anywhere?

No. Every step runs in your browser and the photo is not sent to any server. You can check by going offline after the page loads: the tool keeps working.

The edges weren't detected correctly. What now?

Drag the four corners to the corners of the document yourself. Detection struggles when the document and the surface are similar in color, like white paper on a white table, so use a dark surface next time.

Can it fix a blurry or shaky photo?

No. It corrects the angle and size and improves contrast, but it can't recover detail that isn't in the photo. If the text is blurry, retake it in good light with a steady hand.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. Open the page in Safari or Chrome and shoot with the camera or pick a photo from your gallery. The first time, your browser asks for camera permission; allow it.

The file is too big for the portal. What can I do?

After saving, shrink the image with Compress image or the PDF with Compress PDF to the size the portal asks for, such as 500 KB or 1 MB. For several documents, Application pack combines and compresses them into one file.
