Frequently asked questions
Is Safha free? Do I need an account?
Yes, you can use the tools for free without signing up. An account is optional and isn't needed for any tool.
How much does Safha cost? Is there a paid plan?
All tools are free in the current version, including the features that need an account, such as workflows and signature requests. There is no paid plan at the moment.
Are my files uploaded to the internet?
Most tools run in your browser on your own device, so the file is not sent to any server. A few tools need our server, and every tool shows a badge that says so before you pick your file.
Which tools use the server?
Word, PowerPoint and Excel to PDF and back, web page to PDF or image, OCR, Repair PDF, PDF to PDF/A, Remove background and Upscale image. In some other tools only one option uses the server: the Strong level in Compress PDF, the white background in Passport & ID photo, some image formats such as HEIC and TIFF, and in certain cases Unlock PDF, Protect PDF and Redact PDF. Summarize PDF and Translate PDF send the extracted text to a third-party AI provider, and PDF to Markdown uses the server only for scanned files.
What happens to my file when a tool uses the server?
Your file is sent to our server over an encrypted connection, processed, and deleted right after processing. We don't log the contents of your files or use them for anything else.
Is my file safe with the AI summarize and translate tools?
These tools use AI: the text is extracted from your file and sent over an encrypted connection to a third-party AI provider for processing. We don't keep the file or the text after processing. We don't recommend using them for highly sensitive documents, and you should review the summary or translation before relying on it, because AI can make mistakes.
How do signature requests work? Do you keep the document?
Sign in with a free account, upload the document and enter the signers' names and emails, and we email each of them a link to sign in the browser. Yes, for this feature we keep the document, the signer details and a record of when each action happened, until the request is completed or you delete it. It is an electronic signature with an audit trail, and whether it is accepted varies by country and organization, so check their requirements.
How can I check for myself that my file wasn't uploaded?
For tools that run on your device, load the page and then disconnect from the internet: the tool keeps working. On a computer you can also open your browser's developer tools and watch the Network tab; you won't see any request carrying your file.
Do you collect data about me?
We collect general usage statistics such as pages visited, device type, country, which tool was used and whether it worked. We never store your raw IP address, and we never record file names or contents. The details are in our privacy policy.
Does it work on my phone or iPhone?
Yes. Open the site in Chrome or Safari and use the tools right away, with no app to install. Very large files can take longer on phones with limited memory.
Is there an app I can install on my phone or computer?
Yes, you can install Safha as an app straight from your browser. On iPhone, open the site in Safari and tap Share, then “Add to Home Screen”; in Chrome, choose “Install app” or “Add to Home screen” from the menu. Once installed, on-device tools work offline, while server and AI tools need a connection.
Do the tools support Arabic?
Yes. The interface is fully available in Arabic and runs right to left, and the edit, sign and watermark tools are built to show Arabic text with connected letters. You can also number pages with Arabic-Indic or Latin digits.
Why does Arabic text come out broken or reversed after PDF to Word?
It usually comes down to how the PDF was made: some software stores Arabic letters in an order or form that is hard to recover. A scanned file is an image, not text, so it needs OCR first. Always check the result before you use it.
The portal wants a file under 2 MB. How do I make it smaller?
Open Compress PDF and enter the size you need, such as 2 MB or 500 KB. For photos, use Compress image. Many portals set a size limit per file, so check the exact number in the portal's own instructions.
Is there a limit on file size or number of files?
Tools that run on your device depend on your device's power and memory. Tools that use our server have limits on size and processing time, and the tool will tell you if you go over them.
My PDF is password-protected. Can I still use it?
If you know the password, remove it with Unlock PDF and carry on. Only use that tool on your own files or with the owner's permission.
A tool didn't work or showed an error. What should I do?
Try again, or try another browser or device. Make sure the file isn't password-protected and opens normally; if it's damaged, try Repair PDF. If the problem continues, write to us with the tool name, your browser and your device.
Is there a Chrome extension?
Not yet. The extension is planned and coming soon, and we will publish the details when it's released.
