What you get
Photos stay on your device
Cropping runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded to our servers.
Free or preset ratios
Drag the frame any way you like, or lock a common ratio such as 1:1 for profile pictures or 16:9 for covers.
Cleaner document photos
Cut away the table and background around an ID or certificate so only the document shows.
Touch-friendly on phones
Move the frame with your finger in Chrome or Safari without installing an app.
Frequently asked questions
How do I crop a photo to 4×6 for an application?
For official portraits, use Passport & ID photo. It crops to a 4×6 ratio and sets the real print size in centimeters. This crop tool selects an area but does not set a physical size.
What's the difference between cropping and resizing?
Cropping removes part of the image and keeps the rest unchanged. Resizing makes the whole image smaller or larger without removing anything.
Does cropping reduce quality?
The part you keep has the same detail as before. But if you crop a very small area and then enlarge it, it will look less sharp.
My phone photo of an ID has a lot of background. What should I do?
Crop tightly around the edges of the ID. If it is tilted, rotate it first with Rotate image, or use Scan to PDF if the portal wants a PDF.
Are my images uploaded when I crop them?
No. Cropping happens in your browser on your own device, and images are not sent to any server.
Is cropping free?
Yes. You can crop images for free without creating an account.
