Where is the file processed?

On your deviceThis tool runs in your browser. Your file is not uploaded to any server.

Only the automatic white background option sends the photo to our server over an encrypted connection to remove the background, and it is deleted right after processing; cropping and sizing run in your browser, and you can skip this option.

Steps

  1. Choose your photo: Pick a clear, front-facing photo, or take one now with your phone against a light wall in good light.
  2. Pick the size: Choose 4×6 cm, 3×4 cm or 35×45 mm, depending on what the office asks for. Resolution is set to 300 DPI for printing.
  3. Frame your face: Move and zoom the photo until your face is centered and your head and shoulders are clearly visible.
  4. White background (optional): Turn on the white background if yours isn't plain. Only this step sends the photo to our server over an encrypted connection; it is deleted right after processing.
  5. Download: Download the JPG and print or upload it. Compress it if the portal has a KB limit.

  • Straight from your phone

Take your photo and prepare it in minutes without a studio, then print it at any print shop.

Limits

The tool runs on your device, so the largest file it can handle depends on your device's and browser's memory. Very large files can take longer on phones.

Frequently asked questions

Will the photo be accepted for my passport or ID?

The tool only sets the size and background; acceptance is up to the office you apply to. Each has its own rules on size, background color, head position and glasses, so read them before printing or uploading.

What's the difference between 4×6, 3×4 and 35×45 mm?

They are print sizes. 4×6 cm and 3×4 cm are common on application forms, and 35×45 mm is common for many passports and visas. Choose the size stated in the office's requirements.

How many pixels is a 4×6 cm photo?

At 300 DPI, 4×6 cm is about 472×709 pixels. If a portal asks for a different pixel size, use Resize image after preparing the photo.

Is my photo uploaded?

Cropping and sizing happen in your browser. The automatic white background option sends the photo to our server over an encrypted connection, where it is processed and deleted right after processing. If your background is already white, skip that option and nothing is uploaded.

How do I take an official photo with my phone?

Stand in front of a plain, light wall with the light in front of you, not behind, to avoid shadows. Ask someone to hold the phone at eye level, and look straight at the camera with a neutral expression.

The portal wants the photo under 100 KB. What should I do?

Download the photo here, then open Compress image and choose the size you need. Many portals set a KB limit in addition to the dimensions.

How do I print the photo at the right size?

Tell the print shop the size you need. If you print it yourself, choose “actual size” rather than “fit to page” so the photo isn't scaled.
