What you get
Privacy before sharing
Many files carry your name, computer account or employer without you noticing. Remove them before publishing or sending.
A proper title
The title field shows in browser tabs and sometimes in search results. Give it a clear title instead of a random file name.
Your file stays on your device
Editing runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to our servers and nobody else sees your document.
Content untouched
Only the properties change; pages, text and images stay exactly as they were.
Frequently asked questions
What is PDF metadata?
Information stored inside the file that doesn't appear on the pages, such as author, title, creator app, and creation and modification dates. Anyone who receives the file can see it in the document properties.
Why does my name appear in the file when I never typed it?
Programs like Word take the author name from your computer or Office account and carry it into the PDF on export. Remove it here before sharing if you don't want it visible.
Does removing metadata remove all personal information?
No. It clears the properties stored in the file but doesn't change what is written or shown on the pages. To remove a name or number on the page, use Redact PDF.
Is my file uploaded?
No. Editing runs in your browser on your own device, and the file is not sent to any server.
What about location data in phone photos?
Phone photos can carry where they were taken and the device model. If you're sharing photos, use Remove photo metadata before sending them or turning them into a PDF.
Is it free?
Yes. You can edit metadata for free without creating an account.
