Frequently asked questions
Why does a portal reject my iPhone photos?
iPhones often save photos as HEIC, and many portals only accept JPG or PNG. Convert them to JPG here, then upload.
How do I make my iPhone take JPG photos?
Go to Settings, then Camera, then Formats, and choose “Most Compatible”. New photos will be saved as JPG; older ones stay HEIC and still need converting.
Are my images uploaded?
PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP and AVIF are converted in your browser and are not sent to any server. If your browser can't read HEIC or TIFF, those files are sent to our server over an encrypted connection, processed, and deleted right after processing.
What happens to transparent backgrounds in PNG?
JPG doesn't support transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white. If you need transparency, keep the image as PNG.
Will an animated GIF stay animated?
No. JPG can't hold animation, so only the first frame is converted to a still image.
Does converting to JPG reduce quality?
JPG is a compressed format, so some fine detail can be lost. At the suggested quality the difference is usually hard to see, and you can raise the quality if you like.
Is converting to JPG free?
Yes. You can convert images to JPG for free without creating an account.
