Where is the file processed?

On your deviceThis tool runs in your browser. Your file is not uploaded to any server.

Steps

  1. Choose your PDF: Tap “Select PDF file” or drag your filled-in file into the box, from your phone or computer.
  2. Flatten: Tap “Flatten PDF”. Fields and annotations become fixed page content, right in your browser.
  3. Download: Download the result, and keep the original if you might need to edit it later.

What it offers

  • In plain words

Flattening merges form fields and annotations into the page itself, like printing and scanning the file, but sharper and with text that stays clear.
  • Looks the same for everyone

Some apps and portals don't show filled-in fields, or drop them on upload. Flattened answers always show.
  • Prevents accidental edits

Recipients can't easily change your entries, because they're no longer editable fields.
  • Your file stays on your device

Flattening runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to our servers and nobody else sees your document.

Limits

The tool runs on your device, so the largest file it can handle depends on your device's and browser's memory. Very large files can take longer on phones.

Frequently asked questions

What does flattening a PDF mean?

A PDF can have layers on top of the page, such as form fields, comments and stamps. Flattening makes them a fixed part of the page, so they can no longer be edited or moved.

When do I need it?

After filling in a form and before sending or uploading it, after adding your signature, or if your entries disappear when the file is opened in another app.

Can I undo flattening?

No. A flattened file no longer has fillable fields, so keep the original if you might need to edit it.

Does flattening fully protect the file from editing?

It prevents casual edits, but it isn't full protection: someone with advanced editing software could still change the page. To stop the file being opened, use Protect PDF with a password.

Is my file uploaded?

No. Flattening runs in your browser on your own device, and the file is not sent to any server.

Is it free?

Yes. You can flatten files for free without creating an account.
